Yeah, I was going to say FFIX was that fantasy game. As usual, the later part felt rushed, but Disc 1 was extremely strong. 9/10 material.

I think you're the first person I've seen on HRG that has praised FFVIII. I've not personally played that particular entry yet. So what do you like about FFVIII?

I may have mentioned it before, dunno, but FFVIII is actually my favorite of the PSX entries. I like it a lot, too. At least I did again once I stopped using a guide and trying to do everything when I started getting tired of it.

The story is interesting and I like the characters Squall/Seifer,lots of exploration and some Guardian Forces are great (Odin,Bahamut)
I finished also the Remaster for Nintendo Switch

Interesting. I really should get around to playing FFVIII. Just gotta decide if I want to play it on PSP with standard PS1 polys, or on my PC with up res'd PS1 polys.

I really should play FF8, too. It's that whole drawing mechanic that always put me off. It sounds so tedious. I actually owned a physical copy and I'd started a game but I got annoyed really early on. It was probably hasty, though.

I honestly don't know if the Draw mechanic would put me off these days, either. But really, in some ways, it's just a different form of grinding. Levels are less important in this one; good junctions are what saves the day.

It's that whole drawing mechanic that always put me off. It sounds so tedious. That is the number 1 reason I haven't played FFVIII myself yet. The combat system sounds incredibly tedious, at least from just reading about it.
The number 2 reason is I understand FFVIII is a melodramatic love story, which I absolutely hate in Japanese games. I suppose if you were in 7th-10th grade that level of "dramatic writing" might be relatable, but it's a rare day I endure a love story in a JRPG that doesn't make me cringe mightily.

Chaz and Rika? Though their love story isn't melodramatic.
