I'm sure we'd all agree gameplay video is the best way to scope out a game. Sure I agree with that. I always watch a couple minutes of any game I'm thinking of buying. But not hours of it. But hey whatever I'm not judging how other people waste their free time. It is, after all, theirs to waste. That sniveling clickbait, and all others of its ilk, will have zero impact upon Stellar Blades' stellar sales. If anything, the opposite effect. "Censorship is telling a man he can't have a steak just because a baby can't chew it." -Mark Twain "Censorship ends in logical completeness, when nobody is allowed to read any books, except the books that nobody can read." -George Bernard Shaw "Fuck with my T&A and I'll cut you." -Ex

I skimmed through that article out of curiosity. Its main point is that there was no indication that it was ever going to be censored, therefore, there's nothing to celebrate. But then it also says that the announcement "does more harm than good". Obviously, it does no actual harm. It doesn't really elaborate on that, even though it's overlong and needs editing. It also gives the game faint praise based on the demo, but then argues that it is now "tainted" by the fact that it's being championed by people they don't like. Which is dumb.
To summarize, it doesn't make a pro-censorship argument or anything. I guess it makes the argument that there was never any real controversy and that right-wingers (or whoever) imagined it. But while that one dumb article by some clown in France may have been blown out of proportion, Stellar Blade does buck a very real trend in Western game design against having attractive protagonists, a trend most gamers / game consumers don't actually agree with. So it makes sense that they're happy to see a big game going against it. Meanwhile, sites like this one are generally presumed to support said trend, because they generally do. But they act like they have no idea what anyone's talking about when it's convenient.
My takeaway is that I don't know why this article was written, other than to serve as a body to a clickbait headline that can generate outrage and draw attention to the site. Or maybe just because they need to write articles and the content doesn't matter.

Thanks for the cliff notes toei, lol. In 3-5 years from now when the next hot anime/Asian gamer girl pops up and gets attacked, we'll be seeing these same "journalists" acting like they always thought Eve was brave and cunning, a sex icon to celebrate, broke trends, etc. Source: Literally just happened with Bayonetta, 2B's Nier, over this Stellar Blade "controversy".

Pretty amazing. Until they drive a mile and it all disappears... this is why deep into the game I stopped wasting too much time on elaborate builds. Especially in the sky, you can't build something and trick your way across the whole map. Now there's a method of saving your custom creations but that has to be insanely pricey on materials. But this player probably has a 1,000 hours on this. lol

If I were a share holder, I would be perturbed.

Yeah, not sure what to say about Square right now, as I've ranted about them enough haha. Their execs need a complete reboot. Now despite all the continued "controversaries" around Stellar Blade, I think it sold 1 million copies in its first 24 hours and is currently 2024's highest rated Metacritic game, user wise. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/stellar-blade-has-2024s-highest-metacritic-user-score-so-far/THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN! I've also been watching normal female streamers play it and they love it. Who knew women like the power fantasy character too.
