One streamer I frequently tune into (Calebhart42, think Sarge and dunpeal know him) started playing some Souls last night! By that, I mean of course he started with DARK SOULS 1. Time and time again, Demon's always getting skipped.
Like I said, I just don't see it being remastered or ported ever again. A lost gem. It'll forever baffle me. Aesthetically and mechanically, Demon's is 99% the same as its spawned sequels. I could get if some players can't backtrack a generation or two to play the beginnings of a series. But in this case it just makes no sense. I'd argue Demon's is closer to its sequels than even say, Mega Man X SNES compared to the PSX games.
Crazy!!!
Also your friendly February and March reminder that Demon's is a must play.

The correct question is, "What's the Dark/Demon's Souls of the Master System?" I've heard of that guy, but I don't know him. Prolly dunpeal2064.

"What's the Dark/Demon's Souls of the Master System? Well according to GameFAQs... - And Xeogred is right. Everybody should beat Demon's Souls. You're not a man until you've done it. Even if you're a woman.

Games like Fester's Quest and Friday the 13th are considered tough, but for all the wrong reasons. I'm guessing that's case for this SMS game too, given the rating, so that doesn't really count. Not to mention how games were generally harder back then, so I wouldn't go out of my way to find the hardest game ever on the system as it's usually the result of bad game design.
I think the closest thing to a Souls game on the SMS might be ARPGs like Dragon Crystal or Golvellius, but you shouldn't take my word for it. I'm sure somebody here can confirm whether that's the case.

I'm guessing that's case for this SMS game too, given the rating, so that doesn't really count. Yeah, I was joking. Games like Demon's Souls or Dark Souls are very difficult, but in a fair and measured way. Games that are hard as hell just because they are badly designed and completely balance-broken aren't in the same league of legitimate challenge. I think that's not too bad of a candidate actually. Dragon Crystal is a roguelike, but it incorporates a base fantasy theme not totally unlike say Dark Souls (not nearly as dire mind). I can confirm Dragon Crystal becomes extraordinarily difficult if you play it long enough. It's a good game too.

I've given up on waiting for a remaster and have a PS3 on the way, Demon's Souls already in hand.

It's worth owning a PS3 anyway; there are a lot of titles that likely won't ever be ported to PS4.

I've given up on waiting for a remaster and have a PS3 on the way, Demon's Souls already in hand. You have made a wise decision sir. Another wise decision is don't be a magic spewing weenie. Play DeS like a real man with a blade in your hand. - As an aside, the PS3 does have a fair amount of exclusives: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:PlayStation_3-only_gamesMy all time favorite PS3 exclusive, aside from DeS, is Aquanaut's Holiday: Hidden Memories. But I don't think anyone here would enjoy it, so I'll save the spiel.

Oh don't worry, even if I wasn't aware how broken magic is in DeS I'm a sword and board man anyway. I was planning on skipping magic save for maybe a later playthrough for fun.
