Wow, I was not expecting my copy of Xeno Crisis to come in that quickly. Very fun stuff, although I definitely need to find an efficient setup to play it well. That Smash TV gameplay really begs for two sticks or an SNES-style controller. I found it a bit difficult to maintain my aiming on a six-button controller and manage to get to my grenade and roll button effectively. It's easily one of the most polished indie games I've played on the platform, though. It feels great to play, although I'm not sure I'll ever be beating it... it's tough as nails. Yeah I was worried about how that would work on Sega Genesis to be honest.

A few weeks ago chibby and I beat the Nintendo Switch version of Streets of Rage 4 together. It was really excellent! The soundtrack was completely faithful to the style of the Genesis ones. At first I was standoffish about the art style, but I think I warmed up to it because there are just so many frames of animation and every little movement is bursting with life. I also like little environmental touches that grounded the characters in their environments, like colored lights and reflections. The environments themselves were a treat. I would often get lost looking at random minutiae in the background. I love Double Dragon inspired street brawlers, but they can easily get repetitive and tiresome (I can't into Ninja Turtles Hyperstone Heist for this reason). But Streets of Rage 4 didn't become a statistic of this problem. I'm really glad a game like Streets of Rage 4 came out in modern times.

The soundtrack was completely faithful to the style of the Genesis ones. Well to each their own.

The soundtrack was completely faithful to the style of the Genesis ones. Well to each their own. Well obviously SoR4 didn't use FM synthesis but I thought the style of SoR4's tunes sounded like what would have ended up in a 90's SoR game if they had today's sound hardware. But that was just my impression.

I think this is the only track I really liked a lot.
The rest wasn't actively bad, but I didn't care for most of the OST much. Which was a big disappointment to me as a huge fan of the the SoR1-3 tunes. I can see how it channels the club vibes for sure though, but yeah I don't know. Wasn't feeling it, compared to most of my other indie retro styled games that have way better soundtracks. But alas it's all subjective.
Outside of that though yeah, gameplay wise it freaking rocked and I had a blast with this one. Hope to co-op it myself with someone someday.

Felt the same as Xeogred concerning the soundtrack. None of it was actively bad, and one or two tracks were kinda nice, but I played through that game way too many times trying to unlock everything not to remember any of the OST. I didn't even notice it while playing most of the time. It was just there.

I don't disagree with either of you. There were a few tracks that did some cool building up as you played through the stage, but nothing hit that level of the first two games. Love that particular track, though.
The Mr. and Mrs. Y tracks are pretty solid.
Anyway, listening through the tracks again, they're very good at establishing a particular mood, which I think is a very good thing, but I also think most of the tracks are not what I'd spin up outside of the game, either.

I didn't know the Blaster Master Zero's were on Steam now. I've beaten 1, but 2 was on sale for $5.99 and Curse of the Moon 2 was also 30% off, so I grabbed both.

I decided to back/purchase this game:
I gave the demo a shot, and it seems pretty cool. Decided to go with the Super CD version. Sure, the HuCard version is tempting (I don't actually own a legit HuCard still!), but it's also twice as expensive. And I'm all for adding to my tiny Super CD collection.

Well... that's different. Always cool to see some new games for old hardware, you usually only see them go for one system... but three!? And I'm kind of wishing there was a modern option in this case.
