I was kind of bummed Super Mario Maker 2's online features turned out to be kind of bunk. Or maybe I was just against the idea of signing up for Nintendo's service, I think that dropped around the same time the game came out. But there really wasn't much fan fever around the game like there was the first, I guess for once, the Wii U gamepad was kind of integral to how much some fans loved it and sharing levels was free... not sure I'm convinced enough to buy 2 just for a weird little campaign, but who knows.
If you owns a Switch...
How long have you owned one? Ordered on December 7, 2017.
What's your favorite Switch exclusive? Metroid Dread and the Xenoblade's. I guess I have 190 hours invested in the Switch Xeno's so far. ~70 XB2, ~40 Torna (an "expansion!"), and 80+ and counting on XB3. Didn't love Super Mario Odyssey but it was still really dang cool. Astral Chain is a little forgettable in retrospect... but I had a good time with it.
Do you still regularly play your Switch? Yes but infrequently, though I think I can say that about every platform in my situation. I have options and as someone that consistently plays retro and modern games all the time, I'm usually all over. Can go months in between touching a platform, but that isn't a bad thing in my case.
Any game you are particularly looking forward to for Switch? Breath of the Wild 2 and Metroid Prime 4, if they release on this incarnation of the Switch. I'm skeptical at this point. Apparently XB3 is getting tons of DLC in late 2023... pretty weird, but I'll expect something pretty content jam packed like Torna. Would be awesome if Xenoblade X gets ported. I don't love Bayonetta but I'll probably get 3 someday. I do own and am excited to play Fire Emblem: Three Houses when the mood strikes. Shin Megami Tensei V is one I definitely want, unless it comes to the PS4 or PC.*
How do you think the Switch measures up to the 3DS and Wii U? It's like the Wii U but actually with 3rd part support x100.*
**'s above, because I'll say I generally go with the PS4 and PC when it comes to cross platform releases. Nintendo's burned me in the past with locking their libraries down per console, but there were some interviews recently that suggest they plan on keeping the Switch's library and user base going forward. I'd probably spend more money on the Switch library if I had confidence in that.
If someone weren't so spread out with the options/platforms, I think the Switch alone could keep someone busy for years to come. The library seems Wii/PS2/Steam levels deep.
The Switch Pro controllers are alright. Maybe better than the PS4 Dualshock 4, especially with my recent XB3 binges... I'm not getting cramps like I do the skinny PS4 controller sometimes. That said, I think the Wii U Pro was better (dang glossy finish aside). The battery life was insane.
I can't think of a single time I've played my own Switch personally in handheld mode, so take that in consideration for my thoughts on some of this I guess.
Someone getting into a Switch now or going forward, with the Steam Deck out there now... it'll be interesting to see how things pan out.
But yeah Ex , I don't want to go another 20 years to get Metroid 6. At the very least, buy Metroid Dread!!! Everyone reading this, BUY DREAD!!!

How long have you owned one? Since launch with Breath of the Wild (IE the original Switch model.) I upgraded to OLED version after the screen broke because I left it in kid bashing range...
What's your favorite Switch exclusive? I don't know if this count, but Octopath Traveler was Switch only for awhile. I'd still rather play on the Switch for portability than non-portable options. Well that and OLED, of course. As for a true exclusive: Fire Emblem: three houses. Do you still regularly play your Switch? As much I 'regularly' play a system, yes. Just finished SMTIII Any game you are particularly looking forward to for Switch? I look forward to all the ports to the system. I ran through the Mega Man X series on it which was a good amount of fun. Look forward to others.
How do you think the Switch measures up to the 3DS and Wii U? It seems the Switch is what Nintendo wanted the Wii U to be, so Switch > Wii U. A 3DS comparison is more difficult because of the sheer library of games for 3DS and the time that the 3DS came out. While I still see Nintendo trying to innovate (the Mario Kart Circuit was a fun novelty but only lasted about 2-3 days), customers don't see as open to innovations as in the 3DS days. I may have rosy glasses, but now it just seems more like more about power than before... Bleh...
If you had a Switch but got rid of it, why?Cracked screen, but I got it replaced.
Unless you want the smaller screen (or it is a money issue), get the OLED version. I prefer it over my TV. Although I may get an OLED TV in the near future and things may change.
Also if you have residual hate for Nintendo (which I still do towards Sony), I can understand avoiding it all together.

If you owns a Switch... How long have you owned one?Owned since launch day, when I saw the pick up out of dock and keep playing in original trailer I pre ordered asap.
What's your favorite Switch exclusive?I think Mario Odyssey, very charming game.
Do you still regularly play your Switch? Not really, still a lot of exclusives I need to play for the system but if you don't purchase day 1 I always feel weird paying almost full price for a game a year + later.
Any game you are particularly looking forward to for Switch? Xenoblade 3 eventually. Still need to play first two.
How do you think the Switch measures up to the 3DS and Wii U? Overall its a better system then both, I prefer my 3DS more though. I think the library combo of 3DS/DS is killer, plus I don't find the Switch portable enough. For work trips I like to pack light and Vita/3DS XL can fit in a coat pocket, the Switch needs a dedicated space in a bag.
If you had a Switch but got rid of it, why?

I think the library combo of 3DS/DS is killer That is a good point. Both the DS and 3DS have far more exclusives than the Switch does. The Switch's main strength is having a gargantuan library of ports. It made itself very convenient for people to play ports on. It's unfortunate that the Switch isn't retro-compatible with the DS/3DS though. From a hardware perspective it makes sense enough I suppose. Nintendo had to break from the dual screen concept at some point. I do think the Switch successor will be retro-compatible with the original Switch though. - I have decided I will be buying a Switch Lite. I intend to buy one next week. The beginning of September I'll likely dump a lot of cash to build up the initial Switch library. Gonna be hard to keep the library under 50 games, but that's the plan. I doubt anybody who posted in this thread has bought more than 50 physical Switch games? Seems the big hitters for you guys are the first party exclusives. Of which there's not all that many.

I have over 50 Switch games. Keep in mind I don't have either of the last two Sony or Microsoft consoles, nor do I have an up-to-date gaming PC. So everything "modern" I get on Switch.

I have 17 physical and a few digital. I like to get at least 10 games out of a console to consider it a good investment. Was a struggle with the Wii U, as good as some of those exclusives were haha...
Wonder when or if I'll ever see 10 MUST BUY games for the PS5...

That makes sense enough. Considering the Switch's library is port city, that does lower the necessity of owning other platforms sharing those ports. There are a few non-exclusive Switch games I intend to get on Switch, simply because they appeared in physical format on Switch, whereas elsewhere they are just digital. Wonder when or if I'll ever see 10 MUST BUY games for the PS5... By 2025 possibly. Sony has to figure out a way to get more physical PS5 units on shelves first. That's due to the global chip shortage fiasco as we're all aware of by now. I've read they have worked out a redesign of the PS5 using more readily available chips, and also realigned their OEM processing chain... that should help.

if you have residual hate for Nintendo (which I still do towards Sony) Why do you have residual hate for Sony? High level recap (warning: some of these reasons are childish, other legitimate):
PS1 era: - Sony restricted 2D games
- I despise the load times with a burning passion (N64 didn't have this issue.)
- The PS1 was my first system to break and still the only one I couldn't fix at the time. I had wait a long time to save up money to buy another one.
- official controller = no bueno
PS2 era: - Obnoxious marketing of hardware (which was not that great at all)
- PS2 is one of the main reasons the Dreamcast died (other being the Saturn/Sega's management)
- 2 controller ports unlike every other system: Yes there was a multi-tap but there were limited good 3-4 player games (which did not go well with my 3-4 friend group.) Even N64 before it had 4 ports and many fun 4 player games.
- official controller = no bueno
PS3 era: - Really the reason here is that I tried to program for it and it was a nightmare. A great example of what not to do. In Sony's defense the Saturn wasn't much better.
- <Insert 100 copies of the above bullet right here.>
- Same marketing stupidity as PS2.
- official controller = no bueno
The PS4 fixed all these issues. That said, it takes awhile to get over 3 generations of frustrations--hence residual.
