If you owns a Switch...
How long have you owned one?
What's your favorite Switch exclusive?
Do you still regularly play your Switch?
Any game you are particularly looking forward to for Switch?
How do you think the Switch measures up to the 3DS and Wii U?
If you had a Switch but got rid of it, why?
-
I answered "eventually" because it's likely I'll get a Switch this year. Mainly to play Metroid Dread, the Xenoblades, and the Front Mission 2 remake. Yeah I could emulate Switch but unfortunately for my wallet I find it unethical to pirate games that are less than 10 years old.

Only modern console I care about. Got it near launch; my oldest daughter has her own.

Yep, I gots one. - Bought at launch with Breath of the Wild. - Favorite exclusive is probably Super Mario Odyssey. - I don't think I've ever regularly played it, given that I have so many entertainment options. I dump lots of time in when a big game I latch on to comes out, though. BotW saw me sink in almost 100 hours. Xenoblade 2/Torna the same. - Probably Bayonetta 3, although I worry how it's going to turn out given how long it's been stuck in development. And Metroid Prime 4 seems like it's going to be a dumpster fire at this point, but maybe they pull it off. - Switch has a lot of Wii U ports that have buoyed it, but also has enough unique games that make it a worthwhile purchase even without them. But those Wii U games were fantastic, so seeing a larger audience experience them is good. I don't think, because of those ports, that Nintendo's first-party output has been quite as consistent with newer games, but I still haven't rolled around to Fire Emblem or Luigi's Mansion 3. And I still need to buy Kirby and the Forgotten Land. As a concept, though, it executes what the Wii U did far, far better, and effectively captures the 3DS market as well. The hybrid console keeps Nintendo in the game without pushing crazy tech, and despite predictions, it appears that smartphone games haven't managed to supplant true, proper portable gaming. Ex: I think once you get one, you'll enjoy it. I'd go ahead and splurge for the OLED version - there are enough improvements to make it worthwhile over the stock Switch. Do they still sell those anymore? I assume so, but don't actually know.

Only modern console I care about. What's your favorite Switch game? Any Micro Cabin releases on Switch? also has enough unique games that make it a worthwhile purchase I've got all the Wii U ports on actual Wii U, so no personal interest there. But I've put together a list of 20 games so far I care to buy for Switch, most are exclusives. I don't plan to go crazy buying games for Switch like I did for PS4. I'd like to keep my Switch library under 50 releases, including digital purchases. I agree, the sales results speak for themselves. I believe this is largely because smartphone games tend to be overly monetized to hell. Generally incomplete experiences that focus on microtransactions and grinding. The vast majority of them are just not proper self-contained gaming experiences as we traditionally expect from well designed video games. This may sound dumb, but I see the Switch as a Vita 2 and I will treat it as such. Meaning I'm going to buy a Switch Lite and play the system as a handheld. As a result that relegates me to an LCD screen 'cause AFAIK the Lite model doesn't offer an OLED version.

Well, the Switch Lite ain't a bad idea, either. And it lets you jump in at a cheaper price point. I do think there's a lot of appeal to playing on the TV as well (surprisingly, that's where I mostly play), but perhaps the ergonomics of the Lite are better for portable play.
I will note that some games don't run quite as well in handheld mode - the Switch downclocks the GPU when not docked. Some games that doesn't affect at all, and it's honestly hard to pick out some of the detail loss on a smaller screen. And I suspect the Lite will further obscure the reduction in detail. There are some games that benefit, though, like Xenoblade 2, which honestly starts looking pretty dicey in handheld mode. Thankfully it seems XC3 does a much better job.
I didn't end up splurging for a Pro Controller, instead rolling with a SN30 Pro (that's hit or miss, I don't care for the d-pad and it can feel cramped) before getting the 8BitDo Wireless Adapter and a Series X controller (and also pairing with the Wii U Pro controllers). Now that has proven an excellent investment.

Only modern console I care about. What's your favorite Switch game? Any Micro Cabin releases on Switch? I realize I missed your original questions. My bad. lol no Micro Cabin on Switch. The best Switch exclusive I've played is Super Mario Maker 2. Much more streamlined compared to the original, with a fantastic single-player campaign. As far as other (multi-plat) stuff goes, I loved Sonic Mania Plus and I am decidedly not a Sonic fan in general. Probably the best game in the series. On the VN front, Steins;Gate Elite is excellent, though playing the original game and watching the anime feel like prerequisites so the barrier of entry is kind of high. The Famicom Detective Club duo and Kirby Star Allies deserve mentions as being awesome games as well. (There's a lot I have yet to play!) On the retro front, the digital library is amazing. From Arcade Archives (best on Switch) to ACA Neo Geo to Johnny Turbo's Arcade to the Psikyo shmups to Sega Ages to the Capcom compilations to series-centric compilations (like Turrican) to Atari Flashback Classics...... there's so much tasty vintage gaming to be found.

lets you jump in at a cheaper price point Considerably less expensive, yeah. Lite is like $200 versus $350 for OLED Switch. Last time I checked anyway. Yeah that is the big caveat for sure. Well I don't tend to get too hung up on resolutions and frame rates, but dropped detail is annoying.

Super Mario Maker 2. Much more streamlined compared to the original, with a fantastic single-player campaign. Didn't know SMM2 had a campaign, interesting. Reminds me of the LittleBigPlanet games in that regard. >I loved Sonic Mania Plus Xeogred is also a big fan of that game. Though he didn't play the Plus version. IIRC that version adds two new characters, but modifies the original levels so the new characters can be used in them. >On the VN front, Steins;Gate Elite is excellent, though playing the original game and watching the anime feel like prerequisites so the >barrier of entry is kind of high. I watched the anime many years ago. I don't remember much except for DON'T MICROWAVE BANANAS! I've got the Steins;Gate physical releases on Vita. Steins;Gate and and Steins;Gate 0. I'm sure they are at least decent. >The Famicom Detective Club duo It is cool that these remakes got English releases (digital anyway). I finished the SFC one many years ago and didn't enjoy it very much. But I'm willing to give the remakes a second chance. Definitely unusual subject matter for Nintendo games. Thanks for the rec's.

Ex The Mario Maker 2 single-player campaign consists of short, weird (but very fun) levels. Similar to the Wii U game, it's kind of a showcase demonstrating what can be done in the level design mode. So yeah, not a traditional Mario quest. Still tons of fun though. And I actually read your Famicom Tantei Club Part II review shortly before I posted mine in March. If you don't like the Super Famicom game then, yeah, I don't think you'd dig the remakes either. I'm assuming you don't enjoy the old school meandering no-death Japanese adventure game format.

I'm assuming you don't enjoy the old school meandering no-death Japanese adventure game format. I don't enjoy the menu-driven whack-a-mole "puzzle solving". Oh the door won't open, until you talk to the security guard four times, even though the first three times he said the exact same thing. Also you have to talk to him three times, then look at him, then try to open his desk, then talk to him a fourth time and now he'll open the door. Nonsense design like that no thanks, and oldschool Japanese menu-driven adventure games are full of it.
