Do the N64 Bomberman games have a bad reputation I'm not aware of? It's not a series I follow super closely (I played a ton of Bomberman 93, of all things, on Wii Virtual Console with some friends back when the Wii was the current hotness, and the N64 Bombermans, and that's about it). Nah, I've just gone these 20 some years later never knowing another soul who's played or even heard of them haha.
I'm looking forward to my Majora's Mask replay via the 3DS version. I only beat that one once back in the day. It's not my favorite of the 3D Zelda's (I prefer more dungeons), but I recall liking it a fair bit. The Stone Temple eats OoT's Water Temple for breakfast in terms of difficulty too haha. Kind of insane they never tried to replicate that dungeon idea again... guess it was too intricate. I did appreciate how on a whole it was a tougher game coming off OoT, kind of like Metroid Prime 2 is to the original.

Ugh, I enjoyed the visual upgrades and a couple quality of life upgrades in the 3DS version, but they absolutely ruined the bosses in that one. One in particular is an absolute slog of a fight - while it was a cakewalk on N64, I get that they wanted to rebalance it, but it's just awful on 3DS. Sucks, because I feel like the Ocarina 3DS port/upgrade was great, but Majora got a bit butchered imo. But then, I'm sensitive to that game being changed I guess, since it is my favorite of all time... I hope you enjoy it, at least.

Ironically I found the 3DS version of MM to be easier than the N64 one, but I think that's cause I played the N64 one at age 11 and the 3DS one at age 25, so my brain was more developed.

I wasn't too big on the time gimmick and how you saved in MM, I hear that's different in the 3DS version. Guess I can't remember the bosses enough to compare haha.
As I mentioned loving dungeons, OoT is the one I've beaten probably a dozen times at least. Own just about every version and it was pretty awesome playing the 3DS version finally a few years ago. I agree that one was really smoothed out. But I kind of miss the subtle blood and the original Fire Temple music of the early N64 releases, haha.
Pretty low for MM, but even Wind Waker there that I beat on a lot, I'd still say is better than a lot of non-Zelda games. So my Zelda scale is a bit different than the norm.

Yeah, the original Fire Temple music is far better than the later versions in Ocarina, so I missed that too. Lots of QoL stuff in the 3DS version, though, and having Master Quest in there is fun.
I'll do a quick Zelda tier list, why not! lol
I put this together quickly, and the only thing I agonized about is whether to put Link's Awakening in the SSS tier lol. And I know, the NES games are super low, but I've never been able to get into them - when you have Crystalis as a kid, and eventually go back to play the first Zelda, it's pretty underwhelming (and I think Zelda II is awful generally)!

We definitely got some varied Zelda opinions here, hehe. Nice.
LTTP and LA seem to be the most consistently beloved around here I'd wager.
I grew up on the NES and started with Zelda (and Metroid) from the beginning, so they feel special in that way. I love Zelda II myself, it's so weird. But yeah the original... it's been ages since I felt the urge to play it. It's more of a combat gauntlet and a bit too archaic at times. Even though I could get pretty far as a kid before guides and the internet. But yeah it was definitely LTTP and LA that set the real blueprints down for the series. Stone cold classics.

Interesting to see such a big fan of MM, that's a first for me. Not that I agree or disagree, I've still not played MM yet. To touch on my Zelda list from that thread... ...I still feel about the same. I'm willing to give Skyward Sword a second chance though. From the not played yet tier, I did play Link's Crossbow Training and it wasn't good. Apparently I forgot to put Oracle of Seasons in the graphic, but I'd put it in the pretty dang good tier.

That N64 Shiren reminds me of certain B-tier Saturn games visually, like Shining Wisdom or something. It's an odd look, but I kind of like it, probably for nostalgic reasons.

How do you think the N64 compares to the PS1?I've been trying to explore the greater PS1 library of late (I love my ODE and wireless adapter for my PS1), as outside it's bountiful RPG library, I haven't played a ton of PS1 stuff (as you can probably tell, I was an N64 kid). So, er, I've kind of always preferred the N64, but that's probably nostalgia talking lol Yeah in all honestly, I mostly use the PSX and Saturn as RPG machines. I don't care for 3D action-adventure games, nor do I like the survival horror genre that blossomed during the 5th gen, and I'm iffy on 3D platformers. I turn to the N64 for the great first-party library, the small handful of decent Rare games, oddball exclusives, and when puzzle/sports games are multi-plat I prefer the N64 cartridge format. I've been meaning to get Iggy's Reckin' Balls for ages now. I does look cool.

While I grew up a Nintendo kid and loved the N64 at the time, it's one I've had boxed up for like 20 some years now and never really dust it out. I have very few rare phases like lately too hitting up some N64 games again this month.
The PSX though, feels like it's been in the rotation these last 20 years and I'm not sure when that'll ever stop. Seriously feels like the library is 10x larger and it's endless with stuff I'll continue to discover forever. In recent years I've fallen in love with the OG Tomb Raider games, Front Mission 3, King's Field, Vagrant Story, etc.
I still don't know if I've ever settled on declaring what my favorite system is after the SNES, but the PSX might be it. But maybe I should say it's a triple tie breaker between that, the NES, and Genesis. These four systems are the eternal comfort food.
I was thinking of giving Quest64 another look soon...
