Sadly, I don't think I have beaten any of the Mario Golf games, although I've played a good amount of the GBA entry.

Got my NES games in, they're working fine. Faria is indeed not in the best shape, but works. I popped all of them open and they're all legit, but you can tell Faria had some sort of spill damage as there's a little corrosion on the ROM chip pins in a few places. Not terribly so, so I think it'll be fine overall. I also broke off one of the plastic edges of my NES RetroBlaster cart dumper attachment trying to get one of the games out of the absolute death grip it had on it. Maybe that would have been better if I'd cleaned the carts, but they looked fine... oh well, it still works, just a bit of the plastic guide rail. I'll probably look at super gluing it back in place. Just annoying, that's all. And at least I know the ROMs are still reading correctly, as they all verified according to the database.

I'm going to start documenting where I find these in greater detail because shopping for retro games has changed so drastically since I started this hobby. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (Sega Dreamcast) - $17 Doom (Sega 32X) - $12These game from a retro game store a few miles from where I live. I try to swing by there on Fridays. Something tells me the store is doing well, because I always see people in there shopping, and their stock is always rotating. Every time I come in there's something new to see. Even if I don't buy anything, it's still fun to see games from my childhood on the shelves. I'll post pictures of this place later. Tony Hawk for Dreamcast has some significance for me because it came with the demo disc for my Dreamcast which I bought brand new at an overstock store for $15 in 2004. It only contained one stage, but I played that Tony Hawk demo over and over. Finally I got the Playstation version of Tony Hawk, but I was really let down to find that the graphics weren't as high quality as the Dreamcast version. I mentioned this to my brother over the phone and he told me he remembered feeling that way about the Playstation version, too. Doom was just an impulse purchase. I know it sucks, but it's a part of Sega's history, and everyone on eBay seemingly wants $15 - $20 for it. (I did actually a buy a Sega 32X with Virtua Fighter and Shadow Squadron from that same retro store mentioned in this post for around $200, I just never posted about it here.) Kirby's Air Ride (Gamecube, CIB) - $60 Eternal Darkness (Gamecube, case and disc only) - $75These were separate Facebook marketplace listings, a few short miles from where I live. I never see prices for Gamecube stuff go down ever, so I'm at the point where I'll jump on some of these if local people will let them go for around 20% less than eBay prices. I would love to be proven wrong, but somehow I feel that prices aren't on the way down any time soon. Sega Genesis Model 1 Empty Box (no papers) - $40This came from a pawn shop near my parents house I make sure to frequent ever since they stocked a display case full of 8 and 16 bit games. I keep going back hoping they'll have more. It looks like I was onto something, since they had this sitting on the shelf. The box contains no papers, but it is in handsome shape, and I just had to have it. It looks as though it rested safely in somebody's attic for 30 years before finding its way to the pawn shop. USB Gamecube Controller with Nintendo Switch Logo on It - $13This came from Goodwill. I keep trying to emulate Gamecube games on PC, but they never feel quite right on my USB XBOX 360 controller. So I reasoned that an actual Gamecube controller would solve that. Rainbow Six Rogue Spear (PC) - $1This came from a Christian thrift store near my parents house. 90s PC games are the only thing I can find for decent prices at thrift stores these days. I think now they sort all the 8 and 16 bit stuff back in the donations area and send it somewhere to be auctioned online. 90s PC games still slip through the cracks, though. My trick is to check the music CDs. Old PC games usually get mixed in with those, since the jewel cases are all shaped the same and the employees can't tell the difference. Total: $218

Nice haul there! Yeah, it's more challenging at these thrift stores now, and it's particularly problematic if folks in the back know what they're worth. Pawn shops have gotten really wise to it, too - one of our local ones often takes the biggest ticket ones and sells them online instead.

anayoAs someone who habitually posts what I buy, I also like seeing what you guys buy. Some quick thoughts on this haul: >Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (Sega Dreamcast) I had this one on PS1 when it originally released. Definitely a classic. I think it was the best skating game to come along since Skate or Die on NES. >Doom (Sega 32X) I guess the 32X version isn't great. I believe we're all in consensus that the original PC DOOM is great, though. >Kirby's Air Ride (Gamecube, CIB) - $60 I owned this one back in ye day. It was an impulse buy (for like $20 back then) because I love kart racers and thought this was a Kirby kart racer. It's not that at all, and it's not much fun to be honest. I think the target demographic was six year olds. But I'm sure you can sell it again and make a profit. >Eternal Darkness (Gamecube, case and disc only) - $75 A lot of people love this game and I'm not one of them. But it's definitely a classic and an important game to own for GameCube collectors. >Sega Genesis Model 1 Empty Box (no papers) - $40 I believe the resale value of this item will only appreciate in time to come. >USB Gamecube Controller >an actual Gamecube controller I wasn't aware that Nintendo ever made actual GameCube controllers with a USB connector? >Rainbow Six Rogue Spear (PC) - $1 Great find. I beat this game on PC back around, I guess it was 2000. One of the toughest FPS I've ever beaten, though it's in that realm of tactical FPS. You know how in the past I've mentioned to you that I don't think arcadey FPS games are all that hard. That's because I'm comparing them to beating something tactical like Rogue Spear (PC) - without using a guide or cheats. Good scholarly curriculum, this.

anayoThat is a well stocked vintage gaming store. I'm assuming to turn over that much inventory, they must do a fair amount of online sales.

Anyone want a GOG code for Fallout? Amazon is giving them out, and I already have it.

Anyone that wants a whole lot of Mega Man games on Steam can grab a bundle at Humble Bundle. I'm probably going to pass because I own all these in some form already, but it's a very good deal for a ton of good games. I think it pretty much covers all the mainline original/X/Zero series. www.humblebundle.com/games/mega-man-franchise-pack?partner=wario64
